French Revolution military scenes. [ca. 1792]-1893.

Consists mainly of battle scenes, including depictions of the battles of Valmy, Jemmapes, Fleurus, Neerwinden, Arcole, and Lodi, the siege of Lille, the attack on Nantes by Vendéan forces in June 1793, the recapture of Toulon from counterrevolutionaries in December 1793, and the pacification of the Vendée in 1795. Also included are scenes of military action against crowds in Paris, such as the violence of August 10, 1792, the September massacres of 1792, the Marquis de Lafayette giving the order to fire on the crowd at the Champs de Mars, and Napoleon directing cannon to fire on the crowd on October 5, 1795. In addition, the collection includes numerous prints of scenes from Napoleon's Egyptian campaign, including the battles of the Pyramids, Aboukir (battle of the Nile), and Mount Tabor.
